A fishing blog whereby I share my experiences, the fishing tackle I choose to use along with tactics, venues and fishing captures during real life angling sessions. I enjoy creating fishing blogs recounting successes and failures during my season fishing differing freshwater UK venues. Virtually all of my angling is carried out afloat on either a twelve foot moulded lump of plastic; otherwise known as a niche freshwater angling canoe/kayak hybrid that was imported from the USA. It's bizarre how one can become quite attached to a floating fishing platform! I occasionally fish from a small ten foot hand crafted wooden fishing dingy. A beautiful looking, comfortable and very functional angling craft. Unfortunately home storage issues prevent me from using her more often. This should change at some point in 2014 when I move house :). At varying points throughout the season I target a variety of species; Roach, Bream, , Perch, Carp, Barbel, Tench, Chub, Pike & Brown Trout. I implement a plethora of angling techniques during my pursuit to capture these wild prey &, predator along with commercially stocked fish species. Below are a list of fishing methods that I may be used periodically during the season. Bait (maggot & corn) - Slider float fishing. Bait (lobworm) - Drop Shot fishing. Bait (cubed meat & coarse fish pellets) - Pole fishing on commercial fisheries. Bait (cubed meat & coarse fish pellets) - Rod and Reel short line on commercial fisheries. Bait (maggot grubs) - Rod and Reel short line on commercial fisheries. Bait (dembradina worm & lobworm) - Sbirolino fishing. Lure (soft plastic) - Drop Shot fishing. Lure (soft plastic) - Ultra light jig (2 to 5 gram) fishing. Lure (spinners) - Cast & Retrieve. Lure (spinners, soft & hard) - Trolling I doubt I will be able to cover all of these techniques within my blogs during a twelve month season, however it does give you the reader a flavor of my intended subject matter. Please accept my apologies in advance if I digress as angling is a very unpredictable sport :) LOL. This is what it is all about for me, catching fish from beautiful locations like this venue in the English Lake District. My objective during 2013 was to create an awareness of myself and freshwater kayak angling. In my mind I succeeded with this objective, becoming the No 1 ranked UK kayak angler competing in the global online fishing competition called 'Kayak Wars'. Many guys within the kayak angling industry despise me and find my writing distasteful and egotistical. I am not shy of promoting brands that I enjoy using whilst catching fish. Why not? If they help me catch fish and enhance my enjoyment of our wonderful sport of angling then I for one don't mind telling other anglers about good products or businesses. If this type of self promotion and product marketing isn't for you then please don't read my blogs! On the other hand, a lot of other anglers may find some of the stuff I write interesting and informative. Either way, I will continue to write my blogs because I actually enjoy the process of creating them. So what of my objectives for 2014? I have two challenges; one being this blog and developing / improving my angling writing and the other embarking on an angling coach career. Both of these goals will require me to build new personal skills if I am to succeed. A steep learning curve lies ahead and it is one that I intend to share with you as it twist and turns, no doubt providing many frustrating moments along the way. Let's get started then :) LOL. |
